Particle Size Reduction

The solubility of a solid is intrinsically related to the particle size. Reduction of particle size of a solid can be achieved by various means such as rotor stator inline homogenizer, bead mill, etc. leading to an increase in surface area with enhanced dissolution.

For particle size reduction, this same rotor/stator action will ensure the rapid and uniform milling of both solid and semi – solid materials into either solution or fine suspension. The degree of size reduction will always depend on the hardness or toughness of the product but in many applications the use of Wahal mixers may dispense with the need for conventional size reduction equipment, such as dispensers/cavitation mixers, grinders and mill, and at a fraction of the cost.

High shear mixer reduces the solid and semi-solid processing products to a low micron sizes as per desirable conditions. Particle size reduces by the conventional size reduction equipment.

The High Shear action of the Wahal Engineers rotor/stator workhead can achieve rapid and uniform milling of both solid and semisolid materials to a low micron size in a single operation.

The degree of particle size reduction will depend upon the hardness of the product, but for many applications, the use of a Wahal homogenizer will dispense with the need for conventional size-reduction equipment.
